Open (tenure-track) Positions

The Department of Computer Science (DCC) is offering 2 full-time permanent positions to carry out research and teaching at both undergraduate and graduate level. As assistant professors in tenure-track positions, candidates are expected to develop a strong and competitive research program. Candidates

Candidates should be pursuing internationally recognized research in the following areas (one position per area is offered):

1. Theoretical Computer Science
2. Artificial Intelligence
3. Software Engineering
4. Computer Security and Privacy
5. Networking

Successful candidates are expected to complement the existing strengths of the Department and its current activities. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree and must have demonstrated excellence in research and scholarship within the field of interest. Successful candidates will be expected to:

•    live in Chile,
•    establish and lead their own research team,
•    develop innovative research at the highest international standards,
•    deliver high quality teaching,
•    supervise undergraduate, master and PhD students,
•    obtain competitive research funding from external funding bodies,
•    write and speak English fluently, and
•    develop a good command of Spanish within 1 year of appointment.

The Department of Computer Science (DCC)

The DCC is the leading Computer Science Department in Chile, and one of the most prominent in Latin America. It pioneered the use of Unix and the adoption of the Internet in Chile. Today it has 21 full-time professors, where 8 come from Argentina, Uruguay, France, Ireland, and Peru. They carry out research at the highest level, publishing around 100 articles per year in international conferences and journals. The department is responsible for teaching Computer Science, with about 600 undergraduate, 80 MSc and 40 PhD students majoring in Computer Science.

Concurso Académico

El Departamento de Ciencias de la Computación (DCC) ofrece dos cargos permanentes de tiempo completo para realizar investigación y docencia de pregrado y postgrado. Se espera que los candidatos contratados desarrollen docencia de alta calidad y un proyecto de investigación potente y competitivo. Los Candidatos

Los candidatos deberán estar realizando investigación a nivel internacional en las siguientes áreas (una por cargo ofrecido):

5.    Redes

Se espera que los candidatos contratados complementen las fortalezas existentes del Departamento y sus actividades actuales. Los candidatos deben tener grado de Doctor y haber demostrado excelencia académica en su área de interés. Se espera que los candidatos contratados:

•    residir en Chile
•    establezcan y lideren su propio grupo de investigación
•    produzcan investigación novedosa al más alto estándar internacional
•    realicen docencia de alta calidad
•    guíen estudiantes de pregrado, magíster y doctorado
•    obtengan financiamiento de fuentes externas competitivas
•    escriban y hablen inglés con soltura
•    dominen suficientemente el español en a lo sumo un año desde su contratación

Hoy tiene 21 académicos de tiempo completo, 8 de los cuales vienen de Argentina, Uruguay, Francia, Irlanda y Perú.
